Fine weaving and it’s time-intensive nature provides a medium for exploring endurance and transformation. Elements such as aging, salt, rust, thorns and transcendence evoke a journey through hardship, where suffering may lead to wisdom or transcendence. A coalescence of these elements have inspired the series that includes Terra Feminarum.

The series including Posidonia, Ouroboros, Erasmus of Formia, and Pollen Grains explores bringing material back into itself; symbolizing completion, unity, and the cyclical nature of existence. When materials are broken down to be transformed into something higher, it is known as alchemy.

Sacred Erosion emerges from the reflective lens of midlife and is a response to the natural aging process of the physical and the spiritual. The title references the idea of time, pain, and decay eventually shaping something into wisdom and transcendence—like how rust transforms metal and aging refines the soul. For this series, I studied connections between essential minerals such as salt and forms of corrosion such as rust to create metaphors for impermanence, endurance, and spiritual transformation.
